FERTILITY CLASSES

Yoga for Fertility - This class is designed for those trying to conceive. It consists of a slow flow, with emphasis on restorative postures that reduce stress and encourage deep relaxation. We will use yoga and mindfulness to help us slow down and find ways to live more fully and in greater comfort. This class also provide a sense of community and support, decreasing the feelings of isolation so common in the journey of fertility. Fertility yoga provides a community of empathy in which everyone understands what a would-be parent is going through.

Since studies have now found a connection between pregnancy rates and would-be parents' stress levels, stress-reducing yoga, used in concert with conventional medical treatments, may increase the chances of conception.

PREGNANCY CLASSES

PRENATAL YOGA (available in-person & livestream) - This class is designed to provide pregnant people with a safe space to connect with their changing bodies as well as other parents-to-be, connecting their experience to others in their community as well as that of birthing people throughout history, tapping into the innate wisdom within.

You will be guided through movements, breathing exercises, and basic, easy to remember anatomy info that will prepare you for pregnancy, giving birth, and will provide a foundation for postpartum recovery. Cultivate a new awareness that will assist you through labor and delivery, and find a deeper connection with your growing baby.

Interweaving childbirth education as well as addressing aches and pains associated with pregnancy, this class will help to strengthen the uterus and pelvic muscles, improve circulation, aid in digestion, provide relief and comfort to the areas of the body most impacted by your growing belly. Taught with a strong focus on alignment and anatomy, with a healthy dose of humor, these classes help you navigate your changing body and life with grace and acceptance.

PRENATAL LUNCH HOUR FLOW - Get your body moving to help with midday (and all day) pregnancy related aches and pains. This class will help you feel like yourself with an extra 15 minutes of rest for those who can stay. Those who can't, can feel confident in getting their self-care and community care into their busy lives.

BIPOC PRENATAL YOGA - This class will be a wellness space for those who identify as Black, Indigenous and/or People of Color to provide a community-oriented place for healing, growth, and support during pregnancy. Like all of our prenatal yoga classes, you will be guided through asana that prepares you for pregnancy, giving birth, and provides a foundation for postpartum recovery. Interweaving childbirth education and addressing all of the discomforts associated with pregnancy, while building strength, improving circulation, and aiding digestion, this class will provide relief and comfort to the areas of the body most impacted by your growing belly all while nurturing the relationships and peer support that are so important at this time of transition and growth.

*Please honor and respect our need to gather and hold space in community. Allies can support by sharing the class information with those who identify as BIPOC. BPI (Black Parent Initiative) members receive 30% off all classes. No one turned away for lack of funds.

POSTPARTUM CLASSES

POSTPARTUM YOGA (BABY & ME) - This class provides a comfortable, supportive environment for new parents and their little babes (about 6 weeks up to crawling) to spend some time together bonding while the birthing parent starts to regain strength and tone muscle, relieve stress and tension from the most common “new baby trouble spots”, the neck, shoulders and upper back, and work on stabilizing the abdominal wall, lower back, and pelvis after pregnancy and childbirth.

You and your baby will play while you practice yoga, occasionally sing songs, explore movement, practice infant massage and connect with other parents and babies. Feeding, diaper changing, crying babies, sleeping babies, playful babies are all welcome during class.

Bring a baby blanket, some toys, and whatever else will make you feel comfortable as you meet other parents and create special memories with your new baby.

CORE REBUILD 1 : FIND YOUR CORE - in this Pilates based course, you'll learn how to access and engage the muscles of the deep core: the transverse abdominis, multifidus, diaphragm and pelvic floor, release tension in the iliopsoas (hip flexors that are often tight after pregnancy) and begin to stabilize your trunk and hips; improving posture, helping to correct diastasis recti and pelvic floor disfunction, to find more efficiency of movement. Feel stronger and pain free while lifting, carrying and chasing your little loves (and pull that carseat out of the car without throwing your back out).

Through breathwork, anatomical knowledge and physical practice you will

  • learn lateral breathing (Pilates breathing)

  • the anatomy and function of the muscles in the pelvis and core

  • how to check for and heal Diastasis Recti

  • how to improve coordination and build functional strength.

All of the moves we will do are safe to do in the early postpartum (with plenty of modifications for a more personal approach), and will set you up for success as you continue your postpartum healing (and your baby keeps getting heavier). This course will help improve your posture, lessen/alleviate lower back pain, and build functional strength.

Restore your strength, jump for joy (without the dreaded “sneeze-pee”), and feel confident in your new, miraculous and beautiful postpartum body. No previous Pilates experience necessary, just a body that birthed a baby.

This course will be 4 weeks, with one make-up. Classes will be broken down into manageable chunks that build on previous skills, with recordings sent for practice at home. Whether you had your baby(ies) 3 months ago or 30 years ago, these classes can help you!

*PERFECT, GENTLE way to address DIASTASIS RECTI. **Anyone postpartum, with or without their babies are welcome to attend.

POSTPARTUM DANCE - This 5 week series will help you reconnect with your body, nurture the body-mind connection and gently build strength, coordination and mobility. Through a sequence of stretches and movements that we will add to and build over the 5 weeks, you will learn a “dance” that is totally customizable for any body-no experience, no fitness level requirements at all. Just a desire to find embodiment again (or maybe for the first time) after experiencing one of the most transformative experiences a person can have. Get to know yourself again.

“I think postpartum can feel so out of body, mechanical and not graceful, so to be offered a way to move that supports the body while feeling creative is crucial in coming home to yourself.”

BRAND NEW BABY - MOVEMENT FOR POSTPARTUM HEALING (ONLINE ONLY) - A very gentle class you can do from your bed if you like? Yes please! We will focus on stretching/strengthening movements in the areas that are not currently healing (the outer extremities, neck & shoulders, feet, ankles, wrists), focused breathing and gentle engagement, and what I call “micro movements” in the areas that are healing, all to help increase blood flow, and slowly gain mobility. Come and reconnect with yourself (or just chat with others who’ve recently given birth and be in community). The class is listed as 45min, but can last up to an hour, depending on the needs of those present. Prepare for a chat at the beginning. Processing is healing too. :)

CORE REBUILD (BABIES WELCOME!) - A Pilates based class where you'll learn how to access and engage the muscles of the core and stabilize your trunk and hips; improving posture, helping to correct diastasis recti and pelvic floor disfunction. Improve posture, lessen/alleviate lower back pain, and restore overall strength so you perform the extremely physical task of "doing all the things" (and stop peeing when you sneeze).

CORE REBUILD CLINIC: LEVEL 1 - For anyone who wants to learn how to access their deep core. This is the foundation for all core rebuilding, taught in a way that helps you truly understand and connect your core and pelvic floor to all functional movement, strength building, and other related fitness classes. Learn what the hell it means to "engage your core". Through basic anatomy instruction, individualized teaching, and felt experience, this class will open up a whole world of functional strength, body awareness, and muscle memory that lasts a lifetime. This class is limited to 4 students and will be recurring with drop-in access if there's room. Moving to the next level of Core Rebuild will be open to those after a conversation with the teacher and a mutual agreement that you're ready.

CORE REBUILD CLINIC: LEVEL 2 - Use the breath work and activation skills learned in level 1 to start to build strength and practice more advanced exercises.
