Our origin story

Meeting You Where You Are

My name is Daniele Strawmyre and I am the owner of Ready Set GROW. I am the mother of three wonderful kids: one who is beautifully neurodivergent, one who is full of fire and so much sass, and a toddler who arrived mid-pandemic - a delightful surprise, a light in the darkness that was the first year of Covid-19, our rainbow baby.

I have been building Ready Set GROW since 2015. It started as a dream, became a traveling program, and then in finally in 2019, was established as the beautiful studio it is today.

I moved to the Pacific Northwest with my partner and son in 2015, shortly after losing my mother to cancer and pregnant with our second child. Navigating parenthood with a special needs child … while processing grief and managing pregnancy, all in a new city … inspired me to bring my years of training, education, and experience into creating Ready Set GROW.

I daydreamed about the support, community, and healing modalities I was seeking for myself and my family, and when I couldn’t find it anywhere, I created it.

I do this for them. I do this for me. I do it for all of you (and those to come).

We provide a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for pregnant people, those who are postpartum, caregivers, and children to build strength, grow flexibility, and take control of their physical and mental health.

Ready Set GROW offers Yoga, Dance, Pilates-based core classes, and educational workshops designed specifically for pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond. We are a welcoming, judgement-free space for parents, caregivers, babies, and kids. We serve ALL families regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, ability, or gender identity. At Ready Set GROW, we’re here when you’re struggling and here to celebrate when things are going well.

We offer childbirth and parent education, specialty workshops, and more. In addition to group classes and workshops at our beautiful studio location in NE Portland, we also specialize in private lessons (in studio, in-home, or on Zoom).

We are a warm beacon of light to those who have experienced pregnancy or infant loss and a welcoming place for beginners and "yoga-tentative" students.

Who is in the Ready Set GROW community?

Our team is a collective of parents, birth and postpartum doulas, yoga and movement educators, occupational therapists, lactation consultants, artists, parent and childbirth educators, caregivers, and bodyworkers, all with extensive experience and a passion for helping and supporting families. We offer yoga, dance and movement classes for families at all stages.

We offer a broad range of educational workshops including: breastfeeding, baby sign language, childbirth education, newborn care, social/emotional learning, sensory regulation, and more. We offer classes for children to explore their creativity, develop motor skills, socialize, and build community. We hold space for kiddos needing a little extra support, including those who are neurodivergent.

Our goal at Ready Set GROW is to help folks develop "body intelligence." Through yoga, Pilates, and dance, our classes help students feel strong, centered, and healthy in their bodies and minds. In addition to providing intentional workouts, students learn tools they can utilize in their everyday lives. We teach helpful mental imagery and tricks to use as you go about your day, creating better body awareness and helping you break maladaptive movement patterns. Our classes can help improve your posture, promote healing and recovery, and prevent injury.

Meet our teachers and collaborators. (They can’t wait to meet you!)

Community is Our Foundation

One of our favorite aspects of Ready Set GROW is community building. It takes a village to raise a child and feel supported in the rewarding but most difficult job of parenting. Our studio offers a meeting place to find your people.

Who Am I?

Professionally, I am a choreographer, dancer, and movement educator with over 25 years experience. My focus has been on prenatal and postpartum health for the past 10 years. I am originally from Philadelphia, where I was the director of Ready Set GO, performing internationally and teaching various forms of fitness and Somatics.

Over the course of my career, I’ve had the opportunity to study with master teachers in the fields of anatomy, kinesiology, and various movement practices. I’ve completed my 350-hour intensive yoga teacher training and am a trained Postpartum Doula, Childbirth Educator, and Breastfeeding educator.

Teaching has always been integral to my life and career. My students range in age from infants to older adults, beginners to advanced, and everything in between. I love inspiring and guiding my students by helping them tap into their inner joy, develop a more self-aware and respectful relationship with their bodies, and fine tune their mind-body connection.
